New York City has plenty of romantic places. It’s such a great place for a couple’s getaway! Walking hand in hand around the city streets any time of the year can be magical. Every season brings beauty in a new way to NYC. In the fall, the brisk air and pretty fall colors decorate the city. In the winter the holiday decorations, twinkling lights, carolers and Christmas spirit makes it totally unique. The spring is one of the best times to visit New York: flowers are blooming everywhere, it’s not too hot and not too cold… It’s perfect. The summer brings the city to life in a different way, with free concerts, movies, outdoor events, cocktails on cool rooftops and more.
Here are some of my favorite romantic places in New York City:
1. Central Park
Obviously! There are so many activities to do in Central Park that are incredibly romantic: You can have a picnic in one of the many grassy areas, go on a horse carriage ride, go on a row boat ride, walk hand in hand, rent bikes, have a photo shot taken, I even know couples who get engaged in Central Park! The New York Botanical Garden is nestled in the Bronx, across the street from the Bronx Zoo. It features plenty of flowers, plants and exhibits, right now Frida Kahlo: Art, Garden, Life is on display until November 1st.
3. Cloisters
Higher than many tourists will ever go (though they should!!) the Cloisters is located in upper Manhattan in Fort Tryon Park. It offers beautiful views of the Hudson River and New Jersey. The Cloisters is a museum and garden, part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It features over 2,000 pieces of art and architecture dating back to the 12th-15th centuries. You will think you have taken a trip to medieval Europe (without ever leaving Manhattan).
There are many ways to do it: for FREE on the Staten Island ferry, or take a tourist Circle Line boat, a dinner or dancing cruise — either way you will have great views of the city and plenty of opportunities to cuddle up next to your amorcito.
