Apple Challah French Toast Casserole
This apple challah French toast casserole is the perfect recipe to use leftover bread and apples.
It’s so yummy and easy to make! You can serve for breakfast or brunch, but make sure to leave plenty of time for the bread to soak up the milk.
You can use any leftover challah for this baked casserole so it’s a great weekend recipe. It’s perfect during Rosh Hashanah and to break the fast after Yom Kippur, too!

Apple challah french toast casserole
Serves 10
Baking time: 60 min
Ingredients
- ½ loaf challah bread, cubed
- 5 eggs
- ¾ cups milk
- ⅔ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 3 large apples, cored and diced
Instructions
- Prepare a 9×13 casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray.
- Place the bread and apples in the casserole dish. Toss together.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt.
- Pour evenly over the casserole.
- Cover and refrigerate to allow the bread to soak for at least an hour or overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Uncover and bake for 60 minutes or until the eggs are completely set.
- Serve warm with honey or maple syrup.
