What do you put on a charcuterie board for Easter?
Creating an Easter charcuterie board is a delightful way to celebrate the holiday, combining the festive spirit with delicious, visually appealing food items. Given the season’s themes of renewal and joy, an Easter-themed charcuterie board can feature a blend of traditional charcuterie elements with springtime favorites and Easter treats.
Here are some Easter charcuterie board ideas so you know what to include if you want a few easy variations:
1. Cheeses
- Soft Cheeses: Brie or Camembert, which can be adorned with edible flowers for a spring touch.
- Aged Cheeses: Aged cheddar or Gouda for a rich flavor contrast.
- Mild Cheeses: Havarti or mozzarella (consider using mozzarella shaped like Easter eggs for a festive touch).
2. Meats
- Traditional Cured Meats: Prosciutto, bresaola, salami, smoked turkey and soppressata are only a few wonderful savory meats that will delight your guests.
3. Fruits & Vegetables
- Fruits: Strawberries, blueberries, and grapes add sweetness and color. Apricots and figs can offer a chewy texture and a sweet note.
- Vegetables: Snap peas, baby carrots, and radishes provide a crisp, refreshing contrast and can be arranged to add a pop of color.
4. Breads & Crackers
- Artisan Breads: A selection of small slices or chunks of baguette, focaccia (perhaps with rosemary for a spring aroma), or sourdough.
- Crackers: Offer a variety in shapes and flavors, including whole grain, herb-infused, and gluten-free options.
5. Spreads & Dips
- Sweet: Honeycomb, fruit preserves, or a chocolate-hazelnut spread for a delightful sweet touch.
- Savory: Hummus, artichoke dip, or a soft herb cheese spread.
6. Easter Treats
- Chocolate Easter Eggs: A must-have for any Easter celebration.
- Jelly Beans: For a pop of color and sweetness.
- Marshmallow Peeps: Marshmallow bunnies are a playful and iconic Easter treat.
- Chocolate Bunnies: Always an Easter favorite!
7. Nuts & Extras
- Nuts: Almonds, pistachios, or walnuts for a crunchy texture.
- Extras: Pickles, olives, or artichoke hearts to add brininess and depth.
A charcuterie platter is a great way to welcome guests to your Easter meal or to entertain them while little ones go on their egg hunts.
Easter Egg Shaped Charcuterie Board
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Yield: 8-10 servings
Ingredients
1 large oval-shaped platter
½ pound sliced meat, like prosciutto, salami or ham
½ pound sliced cheese, like provolone
½ pound asparagus, blanched
1 cup grapes, washed (red and/or green)
1 cup blueberries
1 cup raspberries
1 cup strawberries
1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
1 cup nuts
1 cup sliced cucumber
1/2 cup olives (green and/or black)
1 cup dried apricots
1/4 cup whole grain mustard and/or honey
Fresh rosemary sprigs, for garnish
Instructions
To make cheese or meat roses: Slice the cheese or meats in half. Lay the slices flat and slightly overlap them. Roll the sheet tightly from one end to create a central bud. Then, arrange additional slices around the bud, gradually forming layers to resemble rose petals. Secure the layers with toothpicks as needed. Finally, shape and fluff the petals to achieve a more realistic rose appearance.
At the bottom of the platter, stack the asparagus like a nest or basket.
Arrange the fruits, vegetables, and nuts on the oval-shaped platter in layers.
At the bottom, place the cheese and meat roses. Fill in any gaps with rosemary sprigs.
Serve with mustard and/or honey.
Pro Tip: Keep Chilled!
If you won’t be serving your Easter board immediately or in the next half hour, I would keep it in the fridge. Fruits, veggies and meats should be chilled until ready to serve.
