Perfect for game day, family gatherings, or just when you need a cheesy fix, this recipe is as fun to make as it is to eat.
Make these Nachos in 4 easy steps
- Prep: Start by cooking your beef until it’s perfectly browned so your taco meat is ready when you start making your nachos. For an even more delicious twist, combine tomatoes, a hint of garlic powder, and some lime juice to your cooked beef. Store the meat in an airtight container in the fridge.
- Buy or make your queso: You can use your favorite ready made cheese sauce or make your own. In a medium bowl, mix together Velveeta cheese, whole milk, and a thin layer of cheese sauce. Stir over medium heat until you achieve a super melty cheese texture. For a spicy kick, add a dash of hot sauce!
- Layering Time: Start your nacho tower with an even layer of chips, then spoon over the meat mixture, followed by black beans, red onion, and a generous helping of shredded cheese. Don’t forget to drizzle that cheese sauce! Repeat the layers of chips and toppings to build your tower of nachos. Remember then to flip over the trash bin over a baking sheet or serving platter for your Trash Can Nachos.
- Final Touches: Top the nachos with the remaining pico de gallo, a dollop of Mexican crema or sour cream, and a squeeze of fresh lime juice. Garnish with jalapeños or fresh chopped cilantro.
Next Time’s Twist: Looking to mix it up for next time? Try adding a swirl of barbecue sauce or experimenting with different cheeses.
