Refreshing peach sorbet recipe
This delicious peach sorbet is so refreshing and easy to make! It is the perfect summer treat and a great way to take advantage of ripe peaches. You do not need any special equipment or fancy ice cream machines to make peach sorbet. Of course, if you do have an ice cream maker, the process will involve a few extra steps but nothing too complicated.
Peaches always make me think of summer and I buy so many as soon as I see them in the grocery store. However, sometimes they ripen too quickly and there’s only so many fresh peaches I can eat at one time. I sometimes grill them, while other times I make a peach cobbler.
However, making a peach sorbet is now my favorite activity when I have leftover fruit. Plus, it’s a great dairy-free dessert that is perfect for anybody who is lactose intolerant!
Why Peach Sorbet is perfect for summer
Peach sorbet is a delightful and refreshing frozen treat that captures the essence of summer in every spoonful. Made from ripe and juicy peaches, this luscious dessert offers a burst of natural sweetness and a tantalizing blend of flavors.
The smooth and velvety texture of the sorbet glides across the palate, leaving a subtle tangy undertone that perfectly balances the sweetness. Its vibrant peach color is a feast for the eyes, inviting you to indulge in its cool and refreshing embrace on a hot day.
Whether enjoyed as a light and fruity palate cleanser between courses or savored as a guilt-free indulgence, peach sorbet is a true celebration of the season’s bounty, captivating taste buds with its simplicity and sophistication.
Is peach sorbet dairy-free?
Yes, peach sorbet is typically dairy-free. Traditional sorbet recipes are made with just three main ingredients: fruit (such as peaches in this case), water, and sugar. Unlike ice cream or gelato, sorbet does not contain any dairy products like milk, cream, or eggs. As a result, it is an excellent choice for individuals who are lactose intolerant or following a dairy-free diet. It is also naturally gluten-free.
Easy Peach Sorbet Recipe
Ingredients:
- 4 medium ripe peaches, peeled and cut into chunks
- 1/2 cup water
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
Directions:
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the water, sugar and lemon juice. Cook while stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Carefully pour the liquid into the blender. If using a glass blender pitcher, cool the liquid slightly prior to pouring to avoid a temperature shock to the glass.
- Place the peaches in the blender over the liquid.
- Cover the blender and process until the peaches are completely smooth.
- Allow the mixture to cool completely.
- Transfer the peach mixture to the bowl of an electric ice cream maker. Make the sorbet according to the manufacturer’s directions.
- If you don’t have an ice cream machine, pour the mixture onto a parchment lined cookie sheet and freeze until set. Break it up and blend in the food processor or blender until smooth. Freeze and blend again for an ultra smooth consistency.
- When the sorbet consistency is reached, move the sorbet from the ice cream maker’s bowl to an airtight freezer container.
- Freeze until firm.
- If the sorbet is too icy to scoop, allow to rest on the counter for 5 minutes prior to serving.
