Healthy Snack For Kids: Frozen Yogurt Pops Recipe
A healthy snack can be a blessing: it keeps kids happy, while giving them something nutritious to eat. I am constantly learning new recipes and tricks to get my family to eat more fruits and vegetables. Snack time is actually a great time to sneak in fresh fruit.
When trying to find healthier snacks that my kids also love, I’ve found that it works best to find alternatives that satisfy cravings while cutting back on saturated fat and added sugar. That means avoiding ice cream for snack time but finding something just as yummy. I also keep an eye out for unhealthy habits, such as adding sugary dipping sauces and toppings to fresh fruit salads. Fruit by itself is great! You can find more healthy eating tips here.
Snacks can be a fun break during the day. That’s why I really love making these fruity frozen yogurt pops. They are super easy to prepare and I get to sneak in bits of fresh fruit, such as strawberries, raspberries, blueberries or bananas.
You can use low-fat, unsweetened yogurt and count on the fruit’s natural sweetness to give it color and flavor. Or, you can use any low fat yogurt that already has fruit in it, which is what I do. Just make sure it is low in added sugar. It gives it an extra boost of flavor and makes it even more kid-friendly. All you need is a popsicle mold and a few things from your refrigerator.
