7 Things You’ll Love About The Harmony Of The Seas Cruise Ship
The Harmony of the Seas cruise ship impresses you from the moment you first see it. It is currently the largest ship in the world and has plenty of activities, 20 restaurants, shows and enough swimming pools to entertain every member of the family for a whole week.
Recently we were present at her official launch in her new port, Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Royal Caribbean International’s top brass was present, as well as her godmother, Jon Secada and Joe Jonas’ pop group DNCE.
Even though this is a giant ship with capacity for almost 5,000 passengers, plus crew, it’s not so hard to explore. That’s because they’ve divided her into seven neighborhoods, so once you learn what restaurants and activities are in each one, it’s easier to get to each. For example, in the Boardwalk area you can find the merry-go-round, a Starbucks, two rock-climbing walls and Johnny Rockets, among other attractions. In Central Park you can find specialty restaurants, as well as luxury retailers such as Cartier, Bvlgari and Hubolt.
There are several stateroom configurations, most with outside ocean view or with balconies that open to Central Park or the Boardwalk. Many inside staterooms offer a virtual balcony to simulate an outside view. Or if budget is not an issue, the suites are spectacular! We visited the Royal Loft Suite, which has two stories, a hot tub in the balcony, a jacuzzi in the master bathroom, two bedrooms, two large bathrooms, plus living and dining rooms. You also get special access to shows and Coastal Kitchen. A dream come true!
Something I loved because I have older children, is the amount of activities offered on board the Harmony of the Seas. There are two Flow Riders that simulate waves for body boarding or surfing, a zipline that crosses a portion of the ship, 3 water slides, miniature golf, an incredible gym, an ice skating rink, children’s club, and the star attraction: the Ultimate Abyss, which is a 10-story high waterslide.

7 things you must not miss onboard Harmony of the Seas
- The Bionic Bar. Watching two robots prepare your favorite libation after ordering it on an iPad and personalizing it whichever way you want, is really fun. But be patient, because even though the robots can prepare two drinks per minute, the robots are in great demand and your drink may take 10 minutes or more.
- The shows. The water show The Fine Line, which combines aerial acrobatics with water choreography at the Aqua Theater in the Boardwalk is outstanding. Also, there are musicals like Grease and ice skating shows.
- The chocolate dessert at the Wonderland restaurant. Check out my video to find out why.
- The artwork. On the staircases, hallways, Central Park, the Promenade, or by the elevators you will find paintings, sculptures or other artistic installations.
- The food at specialty restaurants. The sushi and teppanyaki at Izumi are top-notch, and so is the Italian food at Jamie’s Italian.
- The pools and water slides at “The Perfect Storm.” Small children have their own water park at Splashaway Bay.
- The views from the bars on the 17th floor. I hope you can witness a sunset from there because it is truly beautiful.
Honestly, the days we spent on the Harmony of the Seas were not enough, but I hope to go back soon to enjoy a family vacation.
Note: I was invited on a press trip to experience the Harmony of the Seas but I did not receive monetary compensation for this post. Many thanks to the production team, who helped creating the videos shown here.
