Are you planning a baby shower for a loved one or yourself? Here are some cute ideas that are adorable, and can be customized to be a low-budget affair or a lavish party! You’ll find traditional options, and some very original ideas that will surely delight all guests.
1. Honeybee
Is mom-to-be sweet as honey? A honeybee theme is perfect for a gender neutral party!
Decorations ideas: yellow lanterns, a yellow and black candy station, a beehive shaped cake, bottles of honey as place cards or favors. How about a “pollen punch?” Another great shower idea? Burt Bee’s favors! A sign that says “Queen Bee” where mom-to-be sits, and “Mommy-to-bee” is also another great sign idea… And for games? Take honey-combed shaped in a glass jar. Have guests guess how many honeycombs are in the jar. Whoever is closest to the actual number wins!
2. Nautical/Sailor
This is a very cute theme if mom is having a boy or if any of the parents love sailing! It’s also a great theme for a co-ed baby shower. Of course, this slogan is perfect: “Ahoy! It’s a Boy!”
Decoration ideas include: anchors, boats, sand, decorations in nautical colors (here are some free printables!), nautical bedding that you can use as decor, onesies with nautical themes and sailor hats too. Need a cute idea for entertainment? How about face and body painting? Check out this cute nautical family body art.
3. Peter Rabbit
I love this baby shower theme; it’s classic and timeless, good for a gender neutral baby shower or for a mom that loves books and classic tales! Chelsea from Play, Rinse and Repeat shared this idea with me.
Decorations: Pastel colored decorations, garden veggies, plush animals (you can keep for baby later on!) Garden supplies, potted plants or seeds work great as favors. Carrot cake (or cupcakes) and veggie trays are a must! Here’s a great idea: you can ask guests to bring in their favorite book for baby in lieu of a card!
4. Cirque de Bebé
Talk about outside the box! I would have never thought about this until Elle from Another Day Another Diaper shared her “Cirque de Bebé” baby shower with me. This theme is great for decorations (there’s so much you can do! Feathers, balloons, glitter!) It’s great for a coed, family baby shower. There are so many props you can use and great ideas for entertainment. Elle shared she had a tarot card reader, a magician and even a man on stilts!
5. Garden Party
A garden party theme is a classic, because who doesn’t love flowers and gardens? You can decorate with the mom-to-be’s favorite colors and make it as laid-back or as fancy as you’d like. You can have passed hors d’oeuvres, an omelette station, sweet lemonade in mason jars, mocktails, a candy station.
Decorations: flowers, butterflies, pearls, lace garlands.
